Take Degoo Cloud for what it is — a backup service focused on photo uploads from mobile devices — and it scores relatively highly. If you're in the market for more sophisticated backup tools, however, then you'll probably have to look elsewhere for a solution.

Degoo is very much a consumer-focused cloud storage solution, and primarily concerned with photos and videos too — it uses some behind-the-scenes artificial intelligence to highlight your best shots, for example. It's the sort of feature that Google Photos and Apple Photos have also been adding to their own services, in direct competition with Degoo Cloud.

With only a web app available on the desktop, it's the apps for Android opens in new tab and iOS opens in new tab that do most of the heavy lifting with Degoo Cloud, and there are even apps for the Samsung and Huawei app stores too bonus points there. The service isn't overloaded with features, but it's worth considering if you're looking for somewhere to store your photos.

IDrive is the best cloud storage provider opens in new tab IDrive, the cloud storage veteran, delivers tons of storage online for an incredibly small outlay. You don't get any kind of desktop client or scheduled computer backups with Degoo Cloud, just the web app as far as Windows and macOS goes — so this is by no means a comprehensive business backup solution. You need to upload files manually if you're working on a computer, though Degoo can take files of any type. A limit of MB per file applies on free accounts down from MB previously , though this is upped to 50GB per file for monthly subscribers.

It's with the mobile apps that Degoo really starts to shine: here you can upload files automatically from your camera roll, for example , as well as documents and audio files if needed. Photos can be automatically uploaded for free, but you'll need to pay a subscription fee to auto-upload other files such as videos. There's even a photo storage maximizer tool here, so lower-res versions of your pictures are stored on your phone or tablet to save space, while the full-res versions are kept safely in the cloud again, this is only for paying members.

On the web, you get some basic photo editing tools to play around with, but they feel like more of an afterthought in Degoo — maybe don't cancel that Photoshop subscription just yet. Music and videos can be streamed from the internet rather than being downloaded, if needed, so you can create a sort of personal Netflix or Spotify for yourself if there's enough space in your Degoo account.

In terms of playback and sharing options though, the service is a little on the limited side. This makes it the perfect companion app for users who like to take photos on their devices with the reassurance of regular backups - ideal for holidays, then.

Degoo Cloud is obviously aiming for intuitive, easy navigation when it comes to the interface of its apps: big text, cartoon images, chunky on-screen elements, and so on. It's not the most sophisticated set of interfaces we've ever seen, but finding your way around is straightforward enough. You only get simple options for uploading and filtering files, but to be fair that's all that a lot of users are going to want — Degoo Cloud might be right for you if you're looking for something that's as accessible as possible and that requires the minimum of effort to use.

If your cloud storage needs are more complex, you might have to look elsewhere. Degoo's attempts to pick out the highlights of our photo roll were a bit hit and miss, so we can't say that's something you can particularly rely on — but then again we'd rather choose our own highlights rather than have an AI engine pick them out anyway.

However, if you're in a rush and just want to see some best picks, it can be helpful. Upload and download speeds were mostly fine, though we noticed occasionally sluggishness — more so with the mobile apps than with the desktop interface. On average, a 1GB test file took a little over nine minutes to process and upload, which is fairly average though can be beaten by the likes of iCloud Drive, Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, all of which reside natively inside their respective operating systems, working smoothly in the background.

The same file took just over one minute to download, which is about as good as it gets. On the mobile side, you can set uploads to only happen when you're connected to Wi-Fi in order to preserve mobile data, but it lacks the finesse and control that a more powerful desktop client would have, such as bandwidth throttling.

One interesting security feature Degoo Cloud offers is what it calls zero knowledge storage opens in new tab : supercharged end-to-end encryption, so not even Degoo employees can access your files, and data spread out across multiple servers for extra redundancy. It's something that Degoo seems to take very seriously, and is another point in its favour, though this particular feature is another of those only available to paying members. The service also offers two-factor authentication 2FA as long as you use a Google account to sign in — we'd prefer it if Degoo had its own 2FA solution in place, but support through Google is better than nothing.

Part of the way that free accounts are kept free is that they contain ads. These are removed for paying customers, however free subscribers can choose to allow personal ads - or not. The free, ad-supported tier available on Degoo - which you can use if you just want to try the service out or you don't have that many photos to store in the cloud anyway - gives you GB of storage space which can be used on up to five devices this was previously capped to just the one device.

Users need to log in at least once a year to keep their free account active. Paying for the service removes the ads, lets you back up photos and videos from more devices 10 for the GB plan and unlimited for the 10TB plan , and adds encryption too. All accounts, paying or not, have the ability to increase storage by the nature of friend referrals. Each friend that signs up gives you an additional 10GB of storage on paid plans or 5GB on the free plan , up to a maximum of friends.

Take Degoo Cloud for what it is — a mobile-focused, consumer-focused, photo-focused archive tool — and it's a pretty polished solution, especially if you spend a bit of money a month on a subscription. That expenditure gets you extra features like zero knowledge encryption and more comprehensive auto-upload options, though if GB is enough storage, the free version is sufficient for most basic users.

The big problem that Degoo has is that Apple and Google are already doing a very good job in terms of photo and video cloud storage, and their apps are right there when people set up their phones.

If you need something that's out of the clutches of the tech giants though, with a strong focus on security, give Degoo Cloud a look. We've featured the best free cloud storage opens in new tab. Cons - Upload speeds can be hit and miss - No desktop application, just a web app - Short on serious backup features.

Degoo windows 10.100 GB Free - Degoo Cloud Drive for PC

I have no complaints in this department apart from not being able to edit those Office documents in some manner. If I want to edit some Word document, I have to first download it, modify it and upload it back which is very counter-productive. Degoo has completely removed their desktop applications, now offering no way to synchronise files to your computer. Degoo used to provide a more backup-focused desktop client for both Windows and macOS. The client also allows for uploading or downloading only one file at the time which makes it practically useless as a backup solution.

Degoo provides very limited file-sharing options. Other cloud storage providers like pCloud , Icedrive , Sync. You have the option to either add Degoo users via their e-mail or by sending a link via social media, e-mail or other platforms. Copying a link and sending it wherever is also possible. When I tried uploading a file with the same name it simply replaced it.

Now that is fairly scary, imagine working on a report for hours only to then accidentally overwrite it… A huge downside to Degoo. That means that the servers are most likely located in the US. They claim that multiple copies of your files are stored in data centres at remote locations across the world.

Do note that with the free plan, all of the files are stored in a single data centre rather than multiple ones. Their paid plans also feature the zero-knowledge encryption with randomly generated AES encryption keys. Make sure to store this passphrase as it is impossible to retrieve your files if you forget it. Feel free to read their article on this for more technical details. Their FAQ base has quite a few answers on how to do certain actions though much of it is outdated due to the various changes they did to their software over the years specifically the desktop client.

You can post a public question directly in that base or try contacting them via e-mail. The e-mails simply get lost somewhere in the process or get a response after months. In any case, Degoo does a very poor job at providing support to their users — and this goes for those that paid for this service as well. The Degoo app is available for Android and iOS users. They even ship it as standard equipment with Samsung phones. The chat also serves as a sharing option with people that also own a Degoo app.

The maximizer is only available in the Ultimate plan and allows you to save space on your mobile device by shrinking the size of the photos to fit on your screen and uploading the full sizes to the cloud. Degoo certainly holds its fair share on the market with Yes, the web browser experience is fairly okay but I want to increase my productivity by having files available on my desktop and sharing them at a moments notice.

Reviews all over the internet also speak of how they treat their customers by not replying to any tickets. Overall, I would avoid this service and recommend you find a better alternative.

Please share it down below. I hope I answered all your questions about Degoo within this Degoo review. And I just realized that they are actually using Google storage. When you drag a thumbnail to open in new tab, you go to Google page. It has not the most advanced features but surly most of.

I never came across any file limit uploads and I have been able to upload single video files at around 15GB, surly generous enough if you ask me and the price is a no brainer. Upon reading the negative reviews of Degoo, I could not understand the issue. I got a great deal via StackSocial on a lifetime sub and it was working well. The amount of storage was fantastic for large video files that I needed to backup since Zoom has limited storage space.

My purchase was a 2-fer, so I gave the other sub to an organization I work with that uses Zoom a lot. Then at the end of March, while uploading many files, some files got stuck at the processsing stage and would not complete. After a couple days of rebooting and retrying, I submitted a support ticket. The next day I decided to try again and a pop-up showed that uploads were limited to 1GB in file size and that I had to upgrade to do more.

First of all, it is unethical shady is an understatement to apply such a limit retroactively to existing customers I can understand it for new ones , especially when it defeats the point of why I got the suscription. Second, I had the highest plan they offer: there was no way to upgrade.

I submitted another ticket asking what was happening. I got a response to the first ticket that they would look into the issue of course, the issue ended up being that it was my over 1GB files not finishing and thus were being limited without prior notice ; I got a response to the second ticket that they would look into the cap, and he came back stating that was the new limit on my subscription not even answering how I could upgrade to allow for more.

So, bottom line, this service is not consumer friendly. The illicit way of doing business is the reason why they get 1 star. I have 3 accounts with 10 TB each.

I wrote them an got an answer, and after my second replay they fixed the issue and put the limit to 20 GB. So just write and make clear that you bought without limitations, and that they should put the limit to 20 GB — hope it works for others too. These are scammers. I bought it subscription for 10 TB.
